A DAY IN THE LIFE: LOCKDOWN EDITION

So a lot of us right now are doing the whole 'getting dressed up with nowhere to go' vibe, if it's for a zoom call, virtual quiz night or just 'cos you want to. However, this is going to be my 'not getting dressed up, still nowhere to go' routine/day in the life, because frankly, if no one's going to see me, the effort ain't there.

When I say so much has changed over the last couple of weeks, I ain't lying, at its changed for all of us. Before all of this happened, I was in the last year of college getting ready to do my A-Level exams, and then bam...we left. Exams cancelled. Still feels like I'm on an extended holiday.

But right now I'm just accepting it, as long as grading is fair. I mean I can't change anything. Also, a lot of people are in a much worse situation than me, and to them, I send you all of my love.

As for now, well, my days are pretty chilled. I've started paying more attention to my blog and Insta (well, trying to) as I've got a lot more time on my hands. Spending more time out in the garden...

Spending more time out in the garden during lockdown.

I tell you what, I don't think I've ever spent this much time in our garden since we moved in! It's so important to make sure you're getting some sort of fresh air or exercise, and I'm fully aware I'm very lucky to have a garden/some sort of outside space. If you don't, make sure you're getting out for your one form of exercise a day!

Netflix has been a very loyal friend so far. I've finished the whole series of 'Too Hot To Handle'. Anyone else watched it? Any thoughts? In my opinion, it's like a step up from Love Island, and because I'm a big fan of Love Island, I knew I'd LOVE it.

I've also continued to re-watch Doctor Who from the start of the 'new era', and also joined in on the global re-watches that Emily Cook (writer for Doctor Who magazine) has been putting together. The fact that a whole fandom comes together to simultaneously watch an episode is so amazing, and everyone joins in on Twitter, which is just such a feeling of togetherness! Any other Doctor Who fans here?? Let me know!

As for living arrangements, I'm currently with my mum and dad who are both key workers, so daily life for me hasn't changed much. Also, a MASSIVE shout out to all the NHS and key workers out there, you are real heroes! And of course, every Thursday at 8pm BST we're out there clapping for you all!

I know a lot of you out there are self-isolating on your own, so feel free to start conversations in the comments, and I'll make sure I reply to you all!

I hope you all enjoyed this look into my everyday life/day in the life kinda thing. I'm just trying to take every day as it comes and go with it because, for me, I can't really change anything.

Be kind, stay home and stay safe!

Until next time...

  1. I was meant to be sitting A levels too... feels very odd to now be sitting around for months!!!! Fingers crossed for good grading. Netflix is a loyal friend right now and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one binge watching shows and not feeling pressure to be productive right now haha. Great post. Xxx

    1. So odd that I'm home all the time! There's no need to put so much pressure on your yourself, there's so much worry going around already. Thank you so much!

  2. I am a freelancer and a stay at home mom from India. My hubby usually workds from home. And its the usual vacation time for my kids. So not much change in that for us. However, just before we were locked down to our houses we had moved to our relative's place and so its one heck of a family time and a wow vacation for my kids, luckily. But I know how tough it should be for others. My heart goes out to each and everyone who is subjected to any kind of suffering out there

  3. I’ve gone from working 40+ hours a week to nothing so it’s been an adjustment to say the least, so glad I’ve got the dog to walk and Netflix has also been a very loyal friend these last few weeks! Nice to hear you’re doing well, and big claps to your parents for their hard work out there!

Thanks for sharing your post :) and you’ve made me want to watch Doctor who again :)

  4. Awee this is such a lovely post. I am actually a grocery worker so I am still working and I do love my day offs where I can relax and watch TV or read and simply have a little time to myself but I still love working since it is my only time that I can go out (a little walk from home to work and back).

Hahaa btw that is a nice picture of you that represents being isolated and chilling. So accurate! I am glad you are enjoying and spending more time on your blog because it is actually awesome. Love your blog. :D

  5. True! Netflix has been a loyal friend to most of us and my daily life hasn't changed much because I'm a total introvert except I miss being out there in nature and right now I'm binging on upload. It's an amazing series. Awesome post! Keep going! Enjoyed reading it!

  6. I'm also one of the very lucky ones to have a garden, so I've been spending a lot of time there too. My day-to-day hasn't changed that much either as I'm a remote worker, but I am finding having to homeschool my daughter takes up a lot of time, so squeezing in some self-care is a little tricky! Huge thank you to your parents, they are doing an amazing job. Stay safe, Jared :) Lisa

  7. Hey Jared, what a lovely post, I love hearing about how people are getting on in lockdown. My routine is quite similar to yours and I've been enjoying mornings in the garden. Stay safe.

  8. I feel you on the whole not getting dressed because I've nowhere to be and no one will see me vibe. That's my vibe these days as well.

Also it is great to have a garden! I've only appreciated ours recently when the lockdown began. It's where I get my sunshine and fresh air too.

  9. Is there anyone who actually puts their clothes on during quarantine (especially if you're home all the time)? I do everything in my pyjamas since the lockdown started! Great post x
